Psychological Evaluations

Diaspora Therapy Group provides comprehensive immigration mental health evaluations conducted by licensed California clinicians (LMFT, LCSW, LPCC). These evaluations are designed to support immigration petitions by documenting the psychological impact of trauma, displacement, separation, persecution, and systemic harm.

Our approach centers clinical rigor, cultural humility, and ethical clarity. We understand that these evaluations carry real-world consequences, and we approach them with care, transparency, and respect.

Types of Immigration Evaluations We Provide:

  • Asylum Evaluations

  • Extreme Hardship Evaluations

  • VAWA (Violence Against Women Act) Self-Petition Evaluations

  • U-Visa and T-Visa Evaluations

  • Trauma-Focused Psychological Declarations

  • Review of relevant records (when available)

  • DSM-5-TR diagnostic assessment

  • Trauma and symptom screening measures

Diaspora Therapy Group provides clinical mental health evaluations, not forensic psychological testing. We do not determine legal eligibility, credibility, or case outcomes. Our role is to assess mental health symptoms and their impact based on clinical standards of care.

ERMHS Assessments

Diaspora Therapy Group offers Educationally Related Mental Health Services (ERMHS) assessments to support students whose emotional or psychological needs affect their ability to access education.

​

Our ERMHS services focus on clinical mental health functioning within the educational context and are provided by licensed California clinicians.

​

ERMHS Services Include:

​

  • Clinical mental health assessments related to school functioning

  • Biopsychosocial evaluations

  • Trauma-informed symptom assessment

  • Behavioral and emotional functioning reviews

  • Treatment recommendations tied to educational access

  • Participation in IEP meetings as mental health providers (when appropriate)

 

What ERMHS Assessments Do Not Include:

​

  1. Psycho-educational testing

  2. Cognitive or academic testing

  3. Learning disability determination

​

These services are outside our scope and are typically provided by school psychologists or credentialed educational psychologists.

 

Our Approach:

  • Cultural and family context

  • Systemic stressors affecting school engagement

  • Strengths, protective factors, and adaptive strategies

  • Collaboration with caregivers and school teams (with consent)

ADHD Assessments

At Diaspora Therapy Group, we offer comprehensive clinical ADHD assessments for adolescents and adults who are seeking clarity, understanding, and practical next steps. Our evaluations are designed to explore attention, executive functioning, emotional regulation, and life impact through a trauma-informed and culturally grounded lens.

We recognize that ADHD is often misunderstood, underdiagnosed, or misdiagnosed particularly among women, BIPOC individuals, immigrants, and those with complex trauma histories. Our approach centers nuance, context, and collaboration rather than checklists alone.
 

What Our ADHD Assessments Include:

Our ADHD assessments are clinical evaluations, conducted by licensed California mental health clinicians (LMFT, LCSW, LPCC), and may include:

  • In-depth clinical interviews

  • Developmental and psychosocial history

  • Exploration of academic, occupational, and relational functioning

  • Trauma-informed differential diagnosis

  • Validated ADHD screening tools and symptom inventories

  • Assessment of executive functioning challenges

  • Review of relevant records (when available)

  • DSM-5-TR diagnostic impressions (when appropriate)

  • Written clinical summary and treatment recommendations

 

Our goal is to help you understand how your brain works, how symptoms show up in your daily life, and what supports may be helpful moving forward.

 

What Our ADHD Assessments Do Not Include

 

To be clear and transparent:

  • We do not provide psychological or neuropsychological testing

  • We do not administer IQ tests or academic achievement tests

  • We do not conduct psychoeducational evaluations

  • We do not determine disability accommodations for schools or workplaces

 

If psychological testing or formal educational evaluations are needed, we are happy to provide referrals.

  • Have a history of being labeled “lazy,” “careless,” or “too sensitive”

  • Want a clearer clinical understanding to inform therapy, coaching, or psychiatric care

 

We work with clients across identities, including late-diagnosed adults, first-generation professionals, caregivers, and individuals navigating cultural expectations around productivity and success.
